If you wonder how to spend your June, you should probably try to make it to #MFW !
When you come to Milan Fashi0n Week for the first time you can be completely lost – everything seems very calm, but when you get on your way to the fashion show, you can get stuck in a traffic or get lost with city maps. How to survive the summer season of madness in Milan? We want to tell you how not to fail the menswear season.
If you come to Milan regularly, you know – June is a very hot season, even if you wear a soft crop top you can catch a feeling like you are dying under the sun. Get your smallest tops and softest skirts if you pack your outfits for the fashion week.
If you come to Milan to catch the hottest street style looks or to be a new star, you should know few things. Every fashion show stars really late (at least 30-40 minutes later than the needed time), the weather during menswear season is too hot, the locations of shows usually 2-3 kilometres from the subway stations and the taxi goes really slow. The best way to get to the show is bicycle, if you cannot do anything with it – try to come earlier. If you create street style materials – you should come before the show, because it’s really hard to catch guests after the show (+you can be late to another show)
If you want to show your outfit’s goals – we recommend you to come in September for womenswear, much more press + new people to meet. Menswear fashion week is very small if is compared to womenswear.
WHERE TO STOP BY
Do not book hotels straight by Duomo. There are a lot of pluses of living close to Duomo (close to subway and all best places of Milan), but you have to spend over 30 euro for any simple meal and get the most expensive things around. If you choose any room or hotel 1-2 kilometres away you will be happy to rest few hours without thousands of tourists around and have a very delicious meal for 13-15 euro.
Some fashion houses skip menswear seasons, so don’t be upset if you come to Milan and see not so many shows in the schedule. The most recommended shows to attend – Prada, Palm Angels, Marcelo Burlon, Dsquared2, MSGM.
You can have a lot of fun during menswear fashion week. There are after-parties every night, so you catch any of them. Some nights there more than 2 parties at the same time, so you have to choose! We suggest you to get in the list for Dsquared2 and Marcelo Burlon for sure! Except crazy after-parties we suggest you to visit #MACAO and #VOLT – these 2 places have the best vibes.
How about free time? Milan is one of the calmest and cutest cities we’ve ever been to. Except presentations and fashion shows, you have to catch some free moments for coffee with friends. The best way to spend your free time in Milan is to walk down Navigli during the evening time – there are hundreds of cute cafes for citizens, not many tourists come there.
There’s only 2 ways to spend your money in Milan – vintage markets on Sundays, which are located close to Navigli or Montenapoleone. Everything depends on how much money do you want to spend.
