Menswear S/S 17 trends from Milan

01.07.2017 — by VD

Highlight of Milan Fashion Week. What do we learn from this spring/summer 2018?

Milan Fashion Week went really productive this year.  Brands presented menswear collections using the most useful and wearable trends. From sportswear to suits – the main rule is everything should look modern. Menswear seasons in Milan remind of a huge 5 days party with non-stop fashion shows and after parties. The highlight of the season was Marcelo Burlon Country of Milan fashion show with a huge party after the show.

Suits.
Every man should have at least two suits in his wardrobe – official and unofficial. Malibu1992, Ermenegildo Zegna showed different variations on “unofficial” suits. Armani, Dolce & Gabbana represented a classy style and MSGM took a logo mania pill. This is very obvious – every season is going to be about suits, but this time suits go on another level – it is a mix of official and unofficial things at once.

Brown color.
A lot of brands used all shades of brown for their spring/summer 18 collections – sand brown, light brown, gold brown. This color is very calm and brutal, it looks good on any man. Moreover, it fits any style!

Urban style.
Every day wear is important for any brand. People choose urban style, which is sporty and comfortable to feel good in the city. This season every brand has at least 2 looks, even Dolce & Gabbana.

Free silhouette.
Androgynous fashion and free silhouettes are bombing runways since Vetements has created their first shocking collections. After Balenciaga, Off-White, J.W.Anderson and Vetements it’s impossible not to be in love with oversized clothes and extra large sizes.
